Eclipsing History: Student-Led Podcasting
Abstract:
During the "Podcasting" class at BGSU, graduate and undergraduate students were placed in charge of constructing a podcasting series on the history and impact of eclipses in North America. Students managed all aspects of production, from conceptual design to final recording and editing. They conducted oral history interviews with scientists, astronomers, and Indigenous cultural representatives to understand the importance that eclipses have played in scientific and cultural communities across time. This project showcases the podcast series' flexible production process and how it presented an inclusive, multidisciplinary approach to unorthodox public history subjects.
